"If our devotion is to the cause of humanity, we will be quickly defeated and broken-hearted, since we will often be confronted with a great deal of ingratitude from other people. But if we are motivated by our love for God, no amount of ingratitude will be able to hinder us from serving one another."

summertime

We have enjoyed the last days of track out and summertime at our favorite place on earth, besides the ball field and the beach - the PooL!
This track out seemed particularly looooong.  We started a wee bit early with a quick trip to h'burg to see the Morrisons and then on to Philly to attend VBS with the cousins and then to D-town to enjoy my side of the family and hit the beach and then a pit stop in Maryland before heading home to visit the Earles.
School starts back on Monday, I hope we are all ready.  I'm not sure if we are prepared to handle homework and schedules again so soon.
As I grapple with the reality of our upcoming move (and, NO, I do not know when yet) I have been relying on my faith that depends upon the character of God.  While I cannot will myself to have joy in my circumstances, I can choose to focus on Him.  Who HE is.  What HE'S done for me. And, what HE will continue to do in my life.
"But as soon as I set my hopes and comforts upon things and people I'll lose something out of my heart.  It dare not be things and God, it dare not be people and God; it must be God and nothing else.  Then whatever else God gives us, we can hold at arm's length and hold it dear for Jesus' sake.  And we can love it for His sake, but it is not necessary to our happiness.  If there's anything necessary to your eternal happiness but God, you're not yet the kind of Christian that you ought to be.  For only God is the true rest."  ~ Tozer "The Attributes of God

Here's pictures from our recent trip
 Neato Burrito!
 Harrisburg Senators game - fun!
The kids ran the bases after the game.  They really enjoyed that!!
There they are, all comfy and cozy in their sweet h'burg home!
Then onto Philly to the Hirschbergs...
First stop. Sports Authority to stock up on Philly gear.
Games at Grammy Q and Lolo's before Shawn left for NC.
Poor Titus missed that last 2 days of VBS due to a fever.
Titus, Elijah and Joseph enjoyed every minute of VBS in PA.
Thanks Chelten, for taking in our outta-towners.

Next stop, Doylestown at McNallys.
Of course, we headed for the shore at the earliest opportunity.  We loove going to Spring Lake with my sister, Lynn and whichever of her girls are able to make it.  This year it was only Erin.  She had Joseph waaaay out there in the big waves.  He loved it!

Maybe next year for these two.
The boys picked up an "extra".  Jake.  What a cutie!!
 Can't wait until next year!
 Some serious Phillies fans here.
 Such a cute couple, huh?

On our way home, we stopped for a quick visit with the Earles.  We were so bummed that Tim and Ellie weren't there, but still thankful for a fun visit!  We'll catch 'em all this fall, for sure.
Their favorite place to go when there is "Jimmy Cones" so off we went!

Upon arriving home, we hit the pool hard.  We missed it so much during baseball season so we were happy to get our money's worth of our pool passes in the past couple of weeks.  It was so nice to have no schedule and no commitments on the calendar.  Aahhhhh.
Titus' buddy, Daniel - the lifeguard
Sometimes they get to "work" in the concession stand.  This, of course, is the highlight of their day!
Drue, a friend from last year.
They thought it would be fun to jump in wearing Kasey's crocs.
Lately, they've taken basketball breaks.
Elijah invited this guy to play.
Just so happens he's a starting point guard for WFR's team.
 Bye Kasey!  We'll miss you.
This time they had Keaton playing ball.

We have really enjoyed the McDaniel kids this summer!
One more day at the pool for us.  This Sunday.  Sigh.
