destyn turned 16 years old today. that's a big milestone in a boy's life.
shawn has really grown to love this boy who comes around and plays ball on our court,
eats our food and loves on our boys.
i love him too.

shawn told me he was stopping at the store to get destyn a present after work today.
i knew he'd put thought into the gift. he's good like that.
we went up to the Boardley house to celebrate destyn.
ms. dee loaded up our boys' plates with cake and ice cream.
we sang. he hates the birthday song. so do i.
shawn presented destyn with the gifts from our family.

ever since the first night we had destyn over for dinner, he has used our big and tall EAGLES cup to drink out of when he's over.
shawn jokes, "that boy stole my cup!"
he jokingly presented him with one to keep.
shawn then explained the next gift, in a sort of
Modern-Day-Knight-kind-of-way
he told him how much he loved and cared for him.
exhorted him.
affirmed him.
challenged him.
and presented him with a cross necklace
along with an explanation of the cross of Christ.
not many dry eyes.
it was a very special moment.
i love that man, shawn shay.
i just love how deeply he cares for the young boys
God brings into his life.
so, our prayer for this goofy, fun loving, loyal and sensitive boy is to
know how deep the love of the Father is and how far and wide that love is.
that he would develop a deeper understanding of the Lord
and make Him King in every area of his life.

Andrea, I know you will love this family! I can't wait for you to meet them all. Precious people, for sure. God has overwhelmed me with His love of me to enable me to love others so deeply, so quickly. It's all Him.
