"If our devotion is to the cause of humanity, we will be quickly defeated and broken-hearted, since we will often be confronted with a great deal of ingratitude from other people. But if we are motivated by our love for God, no amount of ingratitude will be able to hinder us from serving one another."

love

Most of you know I inherited my love of birds from my mother.  Titus and I so enjoy watching all our little friends come and feed.  We have a collection of Mourning Doves that love to perch in our tree outback.  They just sit on the limbs, chillin.
Well, I kid you not.  Today, when I looked out back I saw them doing this!
I guess they got they got the Hallmark memo.

When we were in the Gray's Sunday School class many moons ago, we studied I Corinthians 13.  Tim gave us a handout to review and study.  Since it's Valentine's Day and I'm really not a sappy romantic, I thought I'd share this instead:

I CORINTHIANS 13:4-8a
4 Love bears pains or trials (and unpleasant people) calmly without complaining; love constantly acts benevolently on behalf of others; it does not have negative feelings toward someone who has something it does not have: love does not sing its own praises; it is not full of itself (does not think more of itself than it does of others),
5 It is not rude or overbearing (to do so in the name of love would be utterly shameful), it is not selfish or self-centered or self-focused (tends to put the good of others before the good of itself), is not easily irritated, does not keep a mental record of the injuries inflicted upon it,
6 It does not take pleasure in any deviation from the standard of right, but instead takes pleasure together with its friends and neighbors in the truth (that which conforms to reality, as defined by scripture).
7 It quietly puts up with anything for the sake of the gospel; believes and trusts faithfully in God and His goodness and His sovereignty in all circumstances; delights in anticipating what God is going to accomplish (even in the darkest of circumstances); continues to love faithfully through all trials (does not run from the trial, but remains in the trial and loves through it).
8a Love never, not even once, fails.
