Nanny is so spunky and loved by all at Fort Washington Estates. She is involved in so many activities, I'm not sure I can recall them all. Let's see, the holiday productions, Red Hat Ladies, Choir, oh and, she is the record holder for Wii Bowling. In fact, when she was in the hospital yesterday, it dawned on her that she was to set up the next bowling tournament. Hopefully, they managed without her and she can hold onto her undefeated status. She's an avid Philly Sports fan too!
When we first moved to NC mom and nanny came to visit us over Christmas time. We had a night of chatting that I'll never forget. We asked Nanny all sorts of questions about her earlier years of life. She willingly answered all my questions. So fascinating to hear about her life and how she came to know the Lord as her Savior. She is so precious and we love her dearly.
She loved the cards the boys made for her
Shay boys with "Great"
Joseph was showing her how to play Angry Birds on the Droid. Ha!
Aunt Barb's family moved in next door to Nanna Newman's (Shawn's grandmother) family. Nanna, being Nanna, loved on their family and eventually led Aunt Barb to the Lord at the age of ten. Aunt Barb grew very close to Nanna's mother. When she passed away, Aunt Barb's relationship with Nanna grew closer and closer. Later in life they lived together...but that's a whole other story for another day!
Aunt Barb was instrumental at Chestnut Hill's Labor and Delivery Department. She was a fabulous LDR nurse, present at just about birth in the Newman/Shay and extended family. I was honored and thrilled to have her in my LDR at Abington Hospital and particularly thankful that my doctor was not opposed to having her there. She was amazing!
We are sad that she is sick, but so thankful for our time of visiting. She is precious. Years and years of taking Shawn's family to Camp Meeting where they had loads of fun and learned about the Lord.
She was at this boy's birth in 2000...
this boy's birth in 2002...
and, this boy's birth in 2004
She was even at this boy's birth in 1976!
These precious hands serve the Lord in so many ways.
They made my boys' first and only baby blankets as well.
I wonder if she could number how many blankets she knitted for all the babes in her family??
If you've received help in the Delivery Room or a baby blanket from Aunt Barb, would you take a moment and leave a comment here.
Both of these woman love Jesus and their lives are a constant selfless reminder of that love. We are blessed to call them our very own.
