"If our devotion is to the cause of humanity, we will be quickly defeated and broken-hearted, since we will often be confronted with a great deal of ingratitude from other people. But if we are motivated by our love for God, no amount of ingratitude will be able to hinder us from serving one another."

the move - part 5

Okay, picking up where we left off.  We arrived in Harrisburg, PA on Friday, October 28, 2011, with a little lot of help from our friends.  Thursday evening was the last night we spent in Wake Forest, NC.  We stayed at the Mitchell's house.  It was so surreal.  The Mitchell's moved down south a few weeks before we did in October 2005.  We spent Thursday night, October 27, 2005 at their house preparing to settle on our Naxos Drive home the next day.  So strange how life here on earth cycles.
I digress.  So we fed our weary bodies and attempted to get some sleep before our big exodus to the north in the morning.  So hard leaving our sweet little town.  But leave we must.  We had no trouble along the way, except for the weather report leaked out that snow was predicted in PA for the weekend.  WHAT?!  You.have.got.to.be.kidding.me, right?!  It's October, people.  I hate snow.  This canNOT be happening.
Well, it did.  The next morning flakes fell from the sky right on top of our new yard and new roof, but fortunately, not on any of our stuff.  The truck was unloaded, completely, Friday night.  Stephanie got to work setting up my kitchen.  I'm not really sure what I did.  I remember walking around in circles a lot answering questions and probably looking like a scrawny deer in the headlights.
Somehow we slept 6 adults and 7 children in the house that evening, with more family arriving the next day.  Saturday, my sister, Lynn, and Shawn's mom, Dinie, arrived to help and scope out our new digs.  The more the merrier, right?!  It was a lot of work, but we enjoyed all the help and visitors.  Thanks so much to all of you who had a hand in unloading and helping us settle in.
Shawn was the only one who had seen our house.  Yikes!  I got a sick feeling just before we pulled up out front.  Sort of like, oh-my-gosh-this-is-really-happening-so-I-wanna-go-back-to-WF-now.
Here's the pics of the weekend, in no particular order as it's all a blur at this point.
Sweet Mitchellettes and dapper Shay boys!
The Mitchells have been in our lives since I was pregnant with Joseph.  Love you Mitch and Andrea.  Thank you over and over again for all the support you've given and continue to give in this venture.
We love you!
Going in to check it out
Thank goodness Shawn Shay painted!  The paneling was brown and the walls were a blood red.  Ugh.
 Let the unloading begin
Boys all in one room upstairs.  We are across the hall from them.
Taking over the neighbor's court already.
Looks like they play in the streets up here.
Go Steph!  Thank you, so very much for setting up the kitchen.
What a relief to not have to do that big job alone.
Bunk beds, but not bunk beds.  We split 'em up.
Three lil boys all in a row, sleeping peacefully from head to toe.
Saturday morning brings forth snow.  Oh for Pete's sake!
Uncle Mitch worked tirelessly with Shawn to set up the boys new Xbox 360 Kinect.
We bought it for them in WF, but hid it until the move.  They were blown away and thrilled!
 Up and at it!
Big kids turn
A mother and her baby boy.
Our personal IT guy at it again.  This time the modem/router gives Mitch heck.
Two peas in a pod.  Twins separated at birth by fifteen years.
Love my big sis!
 Perfect task for mom.
 Oh, brutha.
 For real???
 Nighty-night kiddos!

Thanks for the overview of your arrival in PA...back to your birth state!! Notice I didn't say "home" because that's wherever you make it :). I know God is going to use your family in a great way there!! I can't wait to come and be a part of one of the ministries with you...so looking forward to it!!

We had that kind of ceiling in VA. I thought it was cool. My hubby didn't think so much. A wise pastor's wife told me when we were moving to VA from TX to give it one year. She told me to go through all the seasons and holidays then I'd be surprised how much it felt like home. She was right. And I spent half of that year on bedrest. Come to think of it, I spent half of my first year in NC on bedrest. Good grief, no wonder this move to TN has felt like a breeze! :) Praying for y'all!!
